Audit Manager
Saggar & Rosenberg is a boutique Certified Public Accounting and Management Consulting Firm founded in 1999. Headquartered in Rockville, Maryland, Saggar & Rosenberg provides a vast array of specialized tax, accounting and business advisory services to our clients not only in the Washington, DC metropolitan area, but also nationally and internationally. We are a growing firm and to date 100% of our growth has come by referral which is a testament to the high quality service we provide to our clients. Due to this continued growth, we need to add an Audit Manager to our team.
In this role, you will use your analytical and organizational skills, as well as aptitude in risk management and compliance to manage the auditing process. You will ensure that all financial operations and controls meet standards and are error-free.
Typical assignments will include:
Accounting / Audit Assurance
- Develop project plan and personnel scheduling
- Oversee and direct a compliant and accurate audit process
- Ensure that audit tasks are assigned to and completed by audit team members and review of working papers
- Training and evaluation of staff and seniors
- Ensure efficiency of internal controls
- Supervise and coach junior and staff auditors
- Preparation of financial statements disclosure, approval of footnotes, work papers, tax returns, management letters, agreed-upon procedures, and other attestation engagements
- Prepare statistical and account analysis. Analyze client transactions and unusual situations and incorporate the appropriate tax and accounting effect to the transaction or situation
- Recognize and resolve potential and/or existing problems with appropriate research and consulting if necessary
- Present audit findings and find ways to increase compliance and efficiency
Engagement / Client Management
- Manage day to day client relationships
- Serve as a member of the engagement team on specific client accounts, working as the lead on pre-engagement planning and development of final deliverables
- Acquiring strong working knowledge of client’s business while building a strong working relationship with clients to gather information and resolve problems.
- Determination of billings for engagements
Requirements
- BS/BA degree in accounting and CPA Certification
- Proven experience as an auditor
- In-depth understanding of auditing and control practices
- Updated knowledge of applicable laws and regulations
- Organizational and leadership abilities
- Strong research and writing skills
- Proficiency in MS Excel and Word

Federal Manager

Our Government and Public Sector is a rapidly growing business line within the Saggar & Rosenberg firm and our growth is a testament to the high-quality service we provide for our clients. Due to this continued growth, we need to add a Federal Manager to our team. In this role, you will support our public sector practice in performing various audit, advisory, and investigative services for Federal agencies.
In this role, you will use your analytical and organizational skills, as well as aptitude in risk management and compliance to manage the auditing process. You will ensure that all financial operations and controls meet standards and are error-free.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide immediate, daily supervision to a team of support staff and seniors.
- Oversee team quality control and review work performed by staff and seniors.
- Take initiative to deliver quality work products to the client with minimal direction.
- Brief client leadership on project status.
- Review draft deliverables prepared by engagement teams and present final results, including final reports, to client management.
- Delegate tasks and provide guidance to staff members.
- Understand Government Auditing Standards, audit procedures, and financial analysis techniques.
- Help develop and manage project budgets.
- Provide subject matter technical expertise to delivery team in financial management areas of financial reporting, internal control, and/or financial business systems.
- Assist firm leadership with business development.
Requirements
- BS/BA degree from an accredited college or university with concentration in Accounting
- Active CPA certification
- Minimum 5 years of accounting, auditing, and/or related technical experience
- Team management/leadership experience
- Report writing experience
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to travel on a limited basis, if necessary

Senior Consultant
As Senior Consultant at Saggar & Rosenberg, you will play a vital role on our team while assisting our customers with implementation and user support. You will utilize your experience and knowledge of accounting practices, using multiple modules of Unanet, to help clients achieve their organizational initiatives. In this role, you will provide expertise and general consulting knowledge for our clients utilizing various ERP systems. You will find creative solutions where there were none before and you will interface with clients to develop collaborative working relationships. Your attention to detail and ability to manage policies and procedures will ensure effective execution of project requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting for clients primarily in Unanet and QuickBooks
- Prepare closing schedules and review financial statements monthly, quarterly, annually regarding to close the books in conformity with GAAP and FAR/DFAR
- Prepare documentation for the audit and tax accountants for quarterly and annual requirements.
- Assist clients with the preparation of annual incurred cost submissions and provisional bill rate development.
- Gather and document client requirements.
- Document solutions to clients in a wide range of situations.
- Configure and test Unanet and QuickBooks software.
- ERP implementation including testing and documentation.
- Map and consolidate data from existing ERP systems into Unanet.
- Deliver formal and informal training while establishing and implementing methods and best practices.
- Develop desktop procedures and provide project support including design, testing, building, and deployment.
- Effectively communicate and coordinate across implementation team.
- Mentor and support team members
- Maintain high customer satisfaction levels to meet requirements.
- Work with team to define creative and effective solutions.
- Provide status updates related to assignments.
- Lead meetings and conduct presentations
Qualifications:
- BS/BA degree in accounting or related field
- 10+ years of accounting experience as accountant or consultant
- Understanding of all major contract types (Cost Plus, Fixed Price & T&M), and ability to set up and maintain projects in various accounting software.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Effective organizational skills
- Knowledge and proficiency in QuickBooks
Preferred Skills:
- Experience working in government contracting with exposure to DCAA, JTR, FAR, CAS
- Strong technical aptitude with understanding of relational database
- Knowledge and proficiency in Unanet core modules
- Experience working within a software implementation team
- CPA designation
